I’m so super excited about the brand new Fall mini Catalog that was just released. It’s chock full of amazing products for all your Fall and Winter holidays. I know the holiday season always gets away from me…especially with all the traveling we do. I like to get started early and make all my Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas cards way ahead of mailing time.
This year my very talented Mother-in-law is working on some wonderful handmade crafts to sell this holiday season and she asked me to join her in some holiday fairs. Of course, I am going to sell my handcrafted cards! I’m using the Merry & Bright Suite to create this cute and very functional card with a gift card holder. I love this white of products and can’t wait to create all the different designs I have in mind. (Don’t forget that if you choose to sell your cards, you must make sure the Stampin’ Up copyright stamp is on the back…check out the Angel Policy on my online store.)
Now let’s get started on how to create this pretty card. As I mentioned, I used the Merry & Bright Suite and used coordinating cardstock to match…such as Basic White, Shaded Spruce, Melon Mambo and Pool Party. You also want to coordinate your ink so everything is visually cohesive. Let’s get started.
INSTRUCTIONS:
BASE: start out with an 8″x8″ piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock; score it at 4″ and then turn your paper and score again at 4″ so you have 4 quadrants. Then, score diagonally from corner to corner once. You will have a horizontal and vertical score line and a diagonal score line. Now fold your horizontal and vertical fold lines and burnish with your bone folder. Then flip the cardstock over and fold the diagonal score line in the opposite direction. Burns with your bone folder. Now when you open the cardstock, it will naturally want to fold the way you want it to. I love when that happens!
FRONT LAYER: cut Melon Mambo at 3 1/4″x4″, Basic White at 2 3/4″x4″, and Pool Party at 2 1/2″x4″; if you wish to, go ahead and run your Pool Party piece through an embossing folder such as the Basic 3D Embossing Folders to I’ve it more texture. Using your adhesive of choice, adhere the 3 layers together. Adhere to the front of your card. Add die cut/stamped decorations to the front. I used the Happy Labels Pick-a-Punch with some silver ribbon to give it some festiveness….is that a word?? It’s a very useful punch if you haven’t used it yet!
INSIDE LEFT LAYER: cut Basic White cardstock at 3 7/8″x3 7/8″ and Designer Series Paper at 3 3/4″x3 3/4″; adhere those two layers together. Adhere to the inside left quadrant of the card.
INSIDE RIGHT LAYER: cut Basic White cardstock at 3 7/8″x3 7/8″, stamp your sentiment/decorate; add liquid glue to the top left portion of the Shaded Spruce triangle so that only half of your cardstock has glue on it. This allows your Basic White piece to be added and for it to swing down into the card when it’s folded.
CARD HOLDER LAYER: cut a 3 3/4″x3 3/4″ piece of Designer Series Paper (I like to add a different pattern than what I used on the Inside left layer) and cut the square piece on the diagonal to create 2 triangles. Add liquid glue to the back of the triangles. Glue one triangle to the top of the bottom left quadrant and the other triangle to the bottom right quadrant as shown in the diagram below.
CARD HOLDER POCKET ASSEMBLY: Place a seam of liquid glue on the bottom edge of the right quadrant and fold the left quadrant over to the right. This allows only the bottom to be glued so you have an opening for your gift card. Now on the back side of the left triangle you’ll want to glue that entire side down. When dry your pocket is finished…you just have to add your gift card or a note card OR BOTH!
To fold the card, just swing your white cardstock (the upper right quadrant down and the part that was not glued down will slide right into place and will fit into a standard A4 envelope.
I hope you enjoy this fold as much as I do. Once you make one, you’ll find it easy to make many! This suite is so pretty and you can add so much creativity to the design…maybe use the Melon Mama metallic paper instead of cardstock….or add some bling. You have endless options here.
