It’s Fall Y’all! Well, according to the calendar it is. I’m not so sure Mother Nature got the memo though. We’re still traveling in Colorado and it’s still hitting 90 and we’re at 6,000+ feet in elevation. I’m betting (and hoping) it will cool down soon so we can start seeing those beautiful Fall foliage before we head south. Today we’re going to celebrate the change of seasons with a Fall card that is perfect for Halloween or Thanksgiving.
This Pop Out Accordion Fold card is so much fun to create. And with the brand new Pick of the Patch Bundle that includes the cutest stamps and a handy pumpkin punch, you can create Halloween and Thanksgiving/Fall cards that everyone will be obsessed with. Today’s card uses the Pick of the Patch Bundle; Calypso Coral, Very Vanilla, and Lost Lagoon cardstock; Inked Botanicals Designer Series Paper, and Calypso Coral braided ribbon. We also coordinated our ink using Lost Lagoon, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, and Pecan Pie. You can’t beat the coordination with Stampin’ Ups products. It makes crafting a masterpiece so easy
Here’s how we created this beautiful card.
INSTRUCTIONS:
BASE:
Calypso Coral – cut 4″x8″ (x2); score at 2″, 4″ and 6″. Stack your pieces together and cut the ends on both sides to a point. Refer to the template below!
Very Vanilla – cut 1 7/8″x3 7/8″ (x6) *2 pieces will be used on the back of the card
Designer Series Paper – 1 3/4″x3 3/4″ (x4)
DIAMONDS:
Calypso Coral – cut 2 7/8″x2 7/8″ (x3)
Very Vanilla – cut 2 3/4″x2 3/4″ (x3)
Designer Series Paper – cut 2 5/8″x2 5/8″ (x3)
ASSEMBLY & DECORATING:
Referring to the template above, fold your 4 points in towards you (valley fold); place the two pieces side by side and align the middle points. Flip over and temporarily secure them with some removable tape to hold them in place. Flip back over and you’ll see you now have your center diamond. Add some liquid glue to the 2 triangular pieces in the middle and attach your 2 7/8″ square of Calypso Coral over it to secure your middle diamond. Remove your temporary tape on the back. Now you can fold your 4″ score lines as a valley fold and you’ll create the shape of your card.
Glue together your DSP and Very Vanilla rectangular layers and adhere to the card base. Then glue the layers for your 3 diamonds together and attach them to your card base. Using the Deckled Circles Dies, die cut a Lost Lagoon circle and a smaller Very Vanilla circle. Now it’s time for the fun part!
Stamp and punch out all your various pumpkins, stems and leaves. The punch will punch out 2 different size pumpkins, leaves and the stems. You can use your paper snips to cut out the other pumpkins and gourds easily. Attach all the stems to the pumpkins using glue dots. Set them aside. Stamp the Vanilla circle with your sentiment and some Fall leaves using matching ink colors such as Lost Lagoon, Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral. Once your stamping is done, attach all you pumpkins. I clustered a group on the center Vanilla circle, elevating some with dimensionals. I also added Calypso Coral bow to the gourd. I glued on a an arrangement of pumpkins on the other two diamonds as well. Then, flip your card over. Stamp the 2 remaining Very Vanilla rectangles and attach them to the middle of the back of the card…this is a great place to write your message to the lucky recipient.
As you can see, this card comes together quite easily. The fun fold and color coordination really make it special. When you fold in the two diamonds, it becomes a square and perfectly fits in your regular A4 envelope. Don’t forget to decorate the envelope as well! A cute little pumpkin is all it takes to make it perfect.
