My mom taught me to NEVER EVER show up to someone’s home empty-handed. If I’m not bringing a dish of food, I’m going to at the very least bring a bottle of wine or some fancy olive oil. These tags are a perfect topper for those gifts. You can make them simple or elaborate…either way they’ll love the extra touch.
These tags are simple to create, but the decorating can be as elaborate as you want it to be! It’s a great way to use scraps and you can even match the paper to the bottle it will top. Here’s how to make them.
INSTRUCTIONS:
BASE: cut 8 1/2″x3 1/4″, score at 2 1/2″
DSP: 5 3/4″x3″
OTHER PIECES: Tag cut approximately 2″x3″ or cut 2″x6″ and score in half to make a mini card to write on; embellishments and ribbon
Cut and score the tag base; select a small 2 1/4″-2 1/2″ circle die to cut a circle in the top section of the tag for the bottle top to fit. **Use a smaller circle for smaller items like olive oil bottles. If desired, use a corner punch such as the Very Best Trio Punch to create fancy corners on your tag base. You can also punch the bottom half of your DSP to match. Adhere your DSP to the tag base. Decorate with mini cards, tags, etc and embellish with bling and ribbon. **You can also add a piece of Basic White cardstock to the back for a longer message or note.
Here’s a gin bottle that I popped the tags on. It’s a short bottle, but I didn’t have a wine bottle handy. I love that you can adjust your tags to fit your bottle. For this gin bottle I’d size the tag down so it’s not so long. That’s the beauty of these tags…you an be as creative as you wish.
How fun would it be to use these on a fancy bubble bath, artisan vanilla, moisturizer…anything with a neck! 😉
So there you go, next time you get invited to a dinner party, you can dress up that host gift with a special tag and look like a very creative rockstar!
