I’ve had my eye on this Expanding Box Card for some time. Once I tried it out, it became a fave!! It’s simple but unique. I love how it displays so nicely and you still have lots of room on the back to write. This fold is a great way to show off your pretty Designer Series Paper and it works for any occasion card you wish to make! The little birdhouse is perfect on the belly band and is a display piece of its own. Now I need to see if I can hang something from the top that will dangle when opened. Hmmm…I guess it’s my next challenge. This is why I love paper crafting…there’s always something new to try.

To create this card just plan out your color scheme; choose your stamps; grab some coordinating designer series paper; now you’re read to craft! Here’s what you need to know!

CUTTING/SCORING
BASE: (Basic Beige) 8 1/2″x 10″, on 8 1/2″ side score at 1 1/2″ and 1″; on the 10″ side, score at 2″, 3 1/2″, 6 1/2″ and 8″. **see Template

BELLY BAND: use 1″ piece that you cut off the base.
DSP OUTSIDE: (Country Woods) 1 3/4″x5 1/4″ (x2)
DSP INSIDE: (Country Woods) 1 1/4″x5 1/4″ (x2)
INSIDE/BACK MIDDLE: (Basic Beige) 2 1/2″x5″; (Pecan Pie) 2 3/4″x5 1/4″

Here are my other samples…cute, am I right!

I used the Full of Life Suite for this card. The base is Crushed Curry with Shaded Spruce as the accent layer. (I vibed the University of South Florida colors…must be my Tampa roots showing 😉 ). I used the Deckled Circles Dies to create the circles. I love the dies in this set…especially the bold “friend” and how fun it looks when layered.

This final sample is super festive! I created it as a birthday card, but you could create an amazing 4th or July, Anniversary, or New Year’s card just by changing up the color scheme! The base is Night of Navy. I stamped my images in Night of Navy, Granny Apple Green, Cherry Cobbler and Lemon Lime Twist. I created my own DSP this way and I love how it came out! The dies that coordinate with the stamps make the best starbursts! Add a few embellishments and you have a very festive fun fold card that anybody would love!!

Imagine this card with some fancy foiled DSP for some glitz and glam…now I need to go make one! I’ll see you next week for another fab fun fold to share. Until then…happy crafting!
