Oh my goodness, why, why, why did I not try out masks before?? Stampin’ Up has offered masks; heck, I’ve even been given some as an incentive gift….however, I’ve never, ever touched them. Lately, I’ve seen some really pretty cards created with different masks…mostly those patterned masks. When I saw the Enduring Beauty Stamps, Dies and Masks I knew I finally needed to dig in. I’m so happy I did. I’m not totally addicted to using these masks and I’ve ordered some really cool new ones to try out to.

The Enduring Beauty Bundle is such a great package. The stamps are beautiful…the focus is the very large floral stamp. When you also have the dies and masks you have versatility! You can use the stamps by themselves and create beautiful cards. You can stamp and die cut to create beautiful cards. And, you can stamp, use the masks to create the professional looking color shades on the flowers and then finish it off by die cutting and adding additional leaves and stems and make works of art. In my card, I stamped and masked and then added some textural interest with the Softly Sophisticated Embossing Fold found in the Sale-A-Bration catalog. Oh so pretty!!

Are you ready to make your own masterpiece? Here’s everything you need to create this card!

CUTTING & SCORING:
BASE: (Melon Mambo) 5 1/5″x8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
FRONT: (Old Olive) 3 7/8″x5 1/8″; (Basic White) 3 3/4″x5″
INSIDE: (Old Olive) 4 1/8″x5 3/8″; (Basic White) 4″x5 1/4″

INSTRUCTIONS: Fold you base and crease with bone folder. Set aside.

Ink up the large floral stamp with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (Basic Grey is also a good option.) Apply a dab of Stampin’ Seal to the back of the piece you just stamped and use that to hold the paper on your surface. You don’t want it to slide around. Once that’s set, grab Mask #1. Line up the mask with the flowers and use some low tack tape such as Duck Tape (check out my Craft Room Must Haves for the link) and tape the sides of the mask in place. (I also like to trace the corners o the mask with my pencil to make it easy to line up the subsequent masks.) Now grab your blender brush and Melon Mambo ink. Apply some ink on one of your acrylic blocks. Now you just have to brush on some ink, brush off a bit on scrap paper and very lightly brush your color onto the flowers. Once you’re happy with the color, remove the first mask and add Mask #3. Ink up your brush and add more Melon Mambo with just a little heavier touch to add details to the flowers. Remove that mask and add Mask #2. Ink a block with Old Olive and lightly brush the Old Olive ink onto the leaves. Remove the mask and add Mask #4. Brush more Old Olive on to create the details on the leaves. That’s it! Now you can remove the mask and also remove the glob of adhesive on the back of the cardstock using your adhesive eraser.

To emboss the image, place the cardstock in the embossing folder in the opposite direction so the texture is on the back of the cardstock and only the pattern is on the front. This gives you a softer image that compliments the flowers.

Grab your adhesive and build your layers on the front of your card. Use the tag die in the die set to cut a Basic White rectangle tag for your sentiment. Stamp the sentiment in Old Olive and attach to the front of the card using dimensionals. Add some embellishments and the front is finished.

For the inside, simply stamp the bottom corner section of the card with the floral stamp. I used Memento Ink but you could use Old Olive or Melon Mambo, too. It all works. Then, just adhere all your layers to the inside. That’s it! Isn’t it gorgeous.

I think these card would be great as a set to give as a gift. Make up a little stack with some matching envelopes and you’ve got a great gift set!!
