Yes, I know….I’ve made several style cards lately using the Beautiful Butterflies stamps and dies. I just can’t help myself. Sooo. pretty! This card has a unique pleated front that really shows off the gorgeous double sided DSP that Stampin’ Up is so good at creating. This card looks time consuming, but it’s not. Just a few cuts, some scores and folds and minimal products…you’ve got a great card! I hope you enjoy this one!!

As I mention I the video tutorial linked below, I prefer to use the Mini Dimensionals for the pleats, however the regular size will work as well. I like the small ones because I don’t use them as often, there are a lot more of those in the pack, and I feel like they stay hidden a bit better. Like I said, either will work so don’t fret if you don’t have them. I planned to demonstrate this card using the Beautiful Bokeh 6×6 DSP since it coordinates with the Beautiful Butterflies, but my paper got delayed. The free DSP from Sale-A-Bration (Bloom Impressions) was an awesome substitute though!! Here’s what you need to know to create this card layout.
CUTTING/SCORING
BASE: (Coastal Cabana) 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
LAYER: (Basic White) 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″; 2 3/4″x 4 1/8″
DSP: (Bloom Impressions) 4″ x 5 1/4″
PLEAT: (Bloom Impressions) 4″x7″, score 1/2″, 1″, 2″, 2 1/2″, 3 1/2″, 4″, 5″, 5 1/2″, 6 1/2″
INSIDE: (Basic White) 4″ x 5 1/4″
***Don’t worry if you want to make this with 6×6 DSP! Just cut a 4″x4″ piece and then a matching piece at 4″ x 3 1/4″. Use that extra 1/4″ to adhere the two pieces together. Easy Peasy! (See the second sample Friends for Life…that is 6×6 paper!)
Here’s a sample created with that 6×6 DSP I mention above!

I love the 6×6 paper. All the funky dots, stripes, rainbows…it’s all pretty. This card base is Crushed Curry. I added the die cut “friend” and simply stamped the greeting and some hearts inside. It’s super simple!

This is the card that started my idea of sharing this technique. I needed a card for a friend and loved how this one came out. It’s on a base of Blackberry Bliss. Again, I used the Bloom Impressions paper and die cut the butterflies from the same paper. It’s elegant just a bit playful.

This last sample came out so elegant. Just because Valentine’s Day has come and gone doesn’t mean we have to pack away those Hearts of Elegance stamps and dies and that gorgeous Marbled Elegance paper. It makes a very pretty birthday card. I used some Gold paper on the front and gold embellishments and iron. The Happy Birthday greeting comes from the With You in Mind stamp set.
And if these samples weren’t enough, did you know it also looks good turned sideways as well. If only I made a sample of one like that! I just didn’t think of it before now. My mind is always turning things …do you do that?
Happy Crafting!
